ABOUT ME

In real life, I'm the Chief Investigator for a Louisiana District Attorney's Office. I have over nineteen years of law enforcement experience in a variety of fields, including patrol, investigations, SWAT, sniping and training. While none of my stories are based on actual cases I've worked, I draw upon my law enforcement experiences, training, and knowledge in my quest to create believable and entertaining fiction.

My love for story-telling began at age ten, but it wasn't until I was twenty-eight that I submitted my first short story for consideration. I had to wait another four years to become published. It was on May 23rd of 2003 that Earl Staggs, Senior Fiction Editor for FUTURES Mysterious Anthology Magazine, notified me that my story, MUDDY WATERS, had been accepted for publication. The story was edited by FMAM Founder and Publisher Babs Lakey. It appeared in the Summer 2004 issue and was featured on the cover.

Since that first acceptance, I've had over 140 stories published in the following venues: A Twist of Noir, Amazon Shorts Program, Apollo's Lyre, Bewildering Stories, Chippewa Publishing, Crime and Suspense, Detective Mystery Stories, Future's Anthology MagEzine, Fictional Musing, Flashes in the Dark, Flashing in the Gutters, Flashshot, Future's Mysterious Anthology Magazine, Great Mystery and Suspense Magazine, Long Story Short, Muzzle Flash, Mysterical-E, Nefarious Tales of Mystery, Powder Burn Flash, Sex and Murder Magazine, SHALLA Magazine, Short Story Library, Skyline Magazine's Endless Stories, Sniplits, Spinetingler, Static Movement, The New Flesh, Web Mystery Magazine, Writer's Hood, and Writer's Post Journal.

I've also had short stories published in four print anthologies. ABSENT THE SOUL is a book that includes my first twelve short stories. Three more of my short stories appeared in The EX Factor, an anthology published by Koboca Publishing in October 2006, and another story was included in an anthology titled STORIES OF STRENGTH. In addition, I was one of seven authors to contribute to Tony Burton's anthology titled SEVEN BY SEVEN.

I was the editor/owner of a quarterly mystery magazine called Mouth Full of Bullets, which was first published on September 07, 2006 and, sadly, closed  in September of 2008. During those two years, I published over 150 stories and over 50 poems by writers of all levels. Five of the stories I published were finalists for the Derringer Awards. While I was disappointed that I had to shut it down, I met many great writers from around the world and created friendships and memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

In addition to writing and my fulltime job, I love boxing, playing drums, strumming my Fender Stratocaster, teaching, sniping, martial arts, the New Orleans Saints (Super Bowl CHAMPIONS!!!), and (most importantly) spending time with my beautiful wife, two wonderful children, two rambunctious German Shepherds and one slithery snake. I would truly be nothing without my family.
