WHAT'S NEW

 September 2007 / July 2006 / June 2006 / May 2006 / April 2006 / March 2006

MONDAY, APRIL 24, 2006

These past two weeks have found me busy; at work, at home, and with my writing. I started training again, as I would like to get back into fighting shape, and that's also taking a bit of my time. Anywho, let me move right into my writing news.

Two Saturdays ago I received an acceptance from Tribe over at Flashing in the Gutters for my story BLIND SHOT. To read the story, click here: link to story. Then tonight I received two acceptances. The first one was from Bewildering Stories. They will publish a reprint of my story HER JUDAS EYES, which first appeared in the January 2006 Issue of Writer's Post Journal, sometime in May. The second was from Tribe. He accepted another of my stories for Flashing in the Gutters. This one is entitled GETTING UGLY and it can be read here: link to story

Last week I attended a three-day conference for work. It was the best conference I've ever attended and I was very disappointed when it was over.

Well, that's all folks. Have a great week and thanks for reading!

MONDAY, APRIL 10, 2006

This has been another exciting week for me. First, on Thursday, I received word from Teresa Tunaley that my story BLIND AFFAIR was accepted for publication in the May Issue of Writer's Post Journal. Remember what I said about "first time acceptance" back a month ago? It still applies. It's always an honor to be featured in this quality magazine. Anybody wishing to purchase a copy of the magazine can go here: Writer's Post Journal.

Then, on Friday, Tribe notified me that he had accepted my story GREEN GLOVES for his E-zine, Flashing in the Gutters. This is the second story he's accepted from me in as many weeks and I'm very appreciative. To read the story, click here: link to story.

The highlight of my week came on Friday night, when my wife and I had the privilege of meeting Winona Cross and members of the Bayou Writers Group for dinner at Copeland's in Houma, LA. They were in town for the Jubilee Jambalaya Writers Conference. My wife and I had a great night and we returned the next afternoon. I couldn't attend the whole conference because of a prior commitment, but I was able to mingle for a while and even sat in on a lecture and picked up some useful tips on character development.

Then this morning, I received word from Editor Barry Ergang that my story REMEMBER PAGE will be featured in FUTURES Mystery Anthology Magazine. FUTURES will always be my very favorite magazine, because it was where I got my start as a published mystery writer. I will forever be indebted to Earl Staggs and Babs Lakey for that first acceptance. Nowadays, the magazine sits in the capable hands of Managing Editor Barry Ergang. Barry is an expert editor with eagle eyes and a dictionary for a brain. I'm always impressed with his editorial suggestions and I heed them all.

And finally, just a minute ago, I checked the Submission Centre over at Writer's Post Journal and realized that they have accepted another of my stories, CANDLESTICK INJUSTICE, for publication in their May issue. I'm going to sleep really good tonight!

All in all this has been a VERY exciting week for me and I want to extend my sincere thanks to Teresa, Tribe, and Barry for the acceptances. Until next time, happy reading and writing. Thanks for stopping by!

MONDAY, APRIL 03, 2006

I've received two acceptances over the past two weeks that have me excited.

First, Tony Burton notified me that he accepted my story, SMELLS LIKE RAIN, for the April Issue of Crime and Suspense. I wrote the story specifically for his "April Showers" theme and I'm proud to have placed it with Crime and Suspense. Mr. Burton is doing an outstanding job with his E-zine. He provides a quality venue for mystery writers and an enjoyable read for those addicted to the best in crime fiction.

My second acceptance came from Tribe over at Flashing in the Gutters. He accepted my flash story entitled THE OLD MAP. It's a story I began seven years ago and it was gathering dust in a forgotten drawer. This was my first attempt at placing it and I'm happy to see it in Flashing in the Gutters. Anyone interested in reading it can go over to my Short Stories page and click on the link to the story. There are other great stories in Flashing in the Gutters by the likes of Barry Ergang, Pam Skochinski, and Tim Wohlforth.

I also received word from Tony Burton today that SEVEN BY SEVEN is still on track for its April release date. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy, along with my autograph and a personalized message, can contact me at bjbourg@bjbourg.com. The cost per book is $11.95 plus shipping.

Finally, my story WET BLADE went "live" today on Bewildering Stories. If you're a reader, you'll want to go on over and check out what they have to offer. If you're a writer, you'll want to see your work in Bewildering Stories. To read WET BLADE now, click here.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!
